The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will conduct on Tuesday, May 7, a learning session on anti-red tape for all local officials and functionaries in the Cordillera in a bid to establish a more vivid understanding on the compliance to Republic Act 11032, otherwise known as the “Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act.’’

In a statement, the DILG-Cordillera Administrative Region (DILG-CAR) stated that the activity is also meant to open more gateways in providing the necessary information pertaining to “the other related ARTA regulations among the CAR local government units (LGUs).

The topics to be discussed in the session are the overview of RA 11032 and its salient provision, roles and functions of the “Committee on Anti-Red Tape at the local level, handling and resolution of complaints related to bureaucratic red tape and compliance with ARTA regulations and requirements.

Earlier, the budget management prowess of the localities in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) was boosted with the conduct of a financial literacy seminar made possible by the partnership between the DILG and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Through the Cordillera Local Governance Regional Resource Center (CLGRRC), DILG-CAR Assistant Regional Director Ruperto Maribbay noted that the collaborative engagement with BSP dubbed as the “Ipeyas: Online Knowledge-Sharing Sessions on Philippine Currencies and Financial and Economic Matters with Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas (BSP) Northern Luzon” was designed for provincial, city, municipal, and barangay officials and functionaries, as well as DILG-CAR regional and field officers.

Maribbay underscored the importance of financial literacy in instilling fiscal responsibility among government employees and the local government unit (LGU) functionaries. 

“We acknowledged how important grasping the principles of budgeting, debt management, and financial planning are to enhance the overall financial well-being of individuals and organizations,” Maribbay said.

”The importance of conducting online financial literacy training for government employees and LGU functionaries cannot be overstated. It not only contributes to personal financial well-being but also enhances job performance, ensures efficient use of public funds, and fosters a culture of ethical public service. It helps in fostering a responsible and accountable workforce in the government sector,” he added.

Maribbay asserted that government employees and LGU functionaries have crucial responsibilities in serving the public. 

He noted that being knowledgeable about finances enables individuals to make wise choices when it comes to their personal and professional lives, adding that this contributes to responsible and ethical public service.
