Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said on Tuesday, July 23, that the third State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was generally peaceful.

An estimated 7,000 rallyists staged protest actions along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City during the SONA held at the House of Representatives, Batasang Pambansa Complex on Monday, July 22.
The police stated that their comprehensive contingency plan for the SONA was effective.
The plan included the strategic deployment of 3,591 personnel across various areas in the city. They also implemented a road rerouting plan and assigned personnel to checkpoints throughout the city.
The contingency plan was designed to ensure safety and maintain a smooth flow of activities during the event.

Authorities also coordinated with the Quezon City government’s Law and Order cluster, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and other local government agencies.
It added that no untoward incidents occurred during the programs.
“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the members of STU Quezon for your outstanding efforts in ensuring the successful security coverage of SONA 2024. Your dedication and professionalism have kept our community safe and peaceful,” Maranan said.
“I also want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Quezon City Local Government Unit (QC-LGU) headed by Mayor Hon. Joy Belmonte, to the Chief, Philippine National Police (PNP), Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, our Regional Director National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Gen. Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr. for their unwavering support, guidance, and wisdom that contributed greatly to this success,” he added.
Maranan also expressed his gratitude to the local government agencies that participated in the event to ensure the safety of the attendees
“I would also like to thank our Department of Public Order and Safety, Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD), Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO), and other uniformed agencies including the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) for their collaborative efforts which greatly contributed to the success of this event,” the police chief said.
