CSC now accepting applications for May 22 civil service exam
MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is now accepting applications for the Career Service Professional and Sub-Professional written examinations to be administered nationwide on May 22, 2011.
The CSC said that while it will accept applications until April 7, 2011 on a first-come, first-served basis, it also warned that the application period may be closed at any time before the said date once the CSCRegional Offices have reached their respective quota.
Both levels of examination are open to Filipino citizens who are at least 18 years old at the time of filing of application, regardless of educational attainment. Applicants should have not taken the same level of examination in less than three months or since February 22, 2011.
Interested applicants must complete and personally submit the following requirements at any CSC Regional or Field Office:
1. Properly accomplished Application Form (CS Form No. 100, Revised 2008, available at any CSC Regional/Field Office, and downloadable from the CSC website www.csc.gov.ph); 2. Four pieces of recently taken (not more than three months ago) passport size (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm) ID pictures in white background, showing the applicant’s bare face (without eye glasses or any accessory that may cover facial features), and with hand-held name tag bearing the applicant’s first name, middle initial, last name, and extention name, if any; and 3. Original and photocopy of any valid ID card, such as Driver’s License, SSS ID, GSIS ID, current Office ID, Postal ID, BIR ID, Barangay ID, Voter’s ID, valid Passport, or Police Clearance, with the applicant’s name, picture, date of birth and signature, and the authorized issuing officer’s name and signature. Examination fee for both levels of examination is P500.
Passing the Career Service Examination results in the conferment of Career Service Professional and Sub-Professional and Sub-Professional eligibilities which, together with education, experience and training qualifications, are needed for permanent appointment to second and first level positions, respectively, in government that are not covered by the Bar, board of special laws.

Bar passers need not take the exam.
Meanwhile, the CSC stressed that passers of the Bar and board examinations need not apply for the Career Service Examination. The CSC said they are automatically considered civil service eligibles pursuant to Republic Act No. 1080.
Similarly, graduates of baccalaureate degrees with Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude or Summa Cum Laude honors need not apply for the Career Service Examination as they are entitled to the grant of the Honor Graduate Eligibility pursuant to President Decree No. 907.
