Mayweather wanted $100 M to fight Pacquiao — Arum

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Now it can be told.
The reason why Floyd Mayweather doesn't want to get into the ring and slug it out with Manny Pacquiao till the final bell is because he wants a huge pie of the prize money.
Talking to reporters during Pacquiao's open workout here Monday, promoter Bob Arum said he had recently explored the possibility of getting a deal done for the mouth-watering Pacquiao-Mayweather slugfest but ended up – as expected – heartbroken.
"Can anyone guess just how much Floyd wants (to fight Pacquiao?)," asked Arum to a group of scribes with a quizzical look in his face.
The Bulletin gave an answer that was right on the button.
"Yeah, a hundred (million dollars)," said the Top Rank chief, shrugging his shoulders. "That only says he doesn't want to fight."
There have been efforts in the past to get a deal in place for what could be the biggest fight in the history of the fight game but the involved parties could not agree on some delicate matters like revenue-sharing and the touchy issue of random drug testing, resulting in the collapse of negotiations that left fight fans disappointed.
The 79-year-old Arum wondered what was on Mayweather's mind by insisting he deserves that amount.
"That leaves nothing for Manny," said Arum, who is here to check on the progress of Pacquiao's training for his May 7 showdown with Shane Mosley.
So unless Mayweather decides to keep his feet planted on the ground, a clash with Pacquiao won't happen at all, said Arum, who is now more inclined to think that the next best thing is a third fight between Pacquiao and Mexican counter-puncher Juan Manuel Marquez.
In the event Pacquiao gets past Mosley, Arum will likely push forward with a Marquez fight for November.
Pacquiao and Marquez have an issue to settle following the outcome of their first two meetings in 2004 and 2008.
The first fight ended in a split draw while the rematch went Pacquiao's way on a split decision, a result that left Marquez and many fight fans clamoring for a rubber match.
So, it only makes sense what Arum is up to.

"Sure" - If I am the commercial "ads", I don't think it's pretty good to pick "May-" since he's hiding,, not really a really good boxer and so of course I'll pick what I want who is very determine to fight and show the world he's up in the ring to win and that's my "boy" Manny Pacquiao. "CHEW THAT"!!!!!!!!! USAPA NA DO.
Mayweather is no Match to Manny!!!end of discussion!!!
Agree,,,,period for Mayweather.
so many excuses!!!Floyd "crying baby"Mayweather cried during an interview, saying that Pacquiao have so many sponsorships like Nike, No fear, etc..while he is the pound for pound king yet received no offer frm these endorsers,,asa ka pa!!
do u think people will buy No Fear apparrels endorsed by Fearful boxer like u???oh c'mon!!!
Boxing promoters should stop promoting this chicken. Too many alibis, too many requests, too many stupid. Get on the ring, chicken, and rumble with Pacman!
As saying goes, KUNG GUSTO MARAMING PARAAN BUT KUNG AYAW
MARAMING DAHILAN....
In the 1st place Pacman dont need to fight him at all. Its not his "KAWALAN " to fight him as everyone knew that Floyd used a lots of tactics to destroy PacMan reputation.. and now even asking a $100M
paycheck ?
C'mon, stop it. Manny will not lose any sleep even
after he retired for not fighting him as he has more than enough $$$
to live 3 to 4 lifetime...
for those of you who actually believe what Arum is saying .... here's my rebuttal ...
Don King was trying to sign floyd to a 4 fight - 100 million deal.. one of these fights, included a fight with Pacquiao. It wasn't 100 million just to fight Pacquiao. and the last link was actually posted by mayweather himself on his twitter/facebook pages.
so, arum is commenting the 100 million that floyd and king were discussing... BUT FOR A 4 FIGHT DEAL.... AND 10 MONTHS AGO... there's your snake!
