Baguio dire fuel demand

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan said here that the times have already come that water is more expensive than crude oil because of the depletion of the city’s water sources caused by rapid urbanization. The local chief executive claimed the only way for the Baguio Water District (BWD) and the city government to solve the worsening water shortage in the city is to implement the long overdue bulk water project which is the identified suitable solution to prevent the impending occurrence of a water crisis in the city.The bulk water supply project is aimed at attracting prospective investors. S.K. MADE MORE PRODUCTIVE

BAGAC, Bataan — Sangguniang Kabataan National Federated President Assistance Secretary Louise Gabriel "Gabz" del Rosario who is also an Ex-Officio  Commissioner of the National Youth Commission vowed Friday to make the youth organization more productive. Second child of Mayor Ramil del Rosario of this coastal town, Gabz del Rosario said that they want to prove to the public particularly to the oppositions that the SK has grown irrelevant over the years. CONTINGENCY PLANS MADE

DAGUPAN CITY — The Regional  Office of  Civil Defense  had  asked  the  LGUs to  adopt  a  contigency  plan  for  any  disaster  that  may occur  and  always  be  ready. Regional Director Andrew Alex Uy of the Office of Civil Defense  said, people from the coastal areas of Pangasinan and the Ilocos need to be prepared and alert for possible disaster when tsunami strikes as a result of a strong earthquake. This  also includes plans  in case of earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, floods and other disasters. City  of  Dagupan  and  the  OCD has chosen the island barangay of Pugaro as pilot site for a tsunami preparedness program. (Liezle  Basa  Inigo )

REMITTANCE BILL APPROVED
 
BAGUIO CITY– The House of Representatives before going on at their regular Holy Week break approved on third and final reading House Bill (HB) 4410 that provides for a direct remittance to the host local governments of their 40 percent share of the proceeds derived from the exploitation, utilization and development of national wealth. The consolidated bill which was authored by House Majority Floor Leader and Mandaluyong Rep. Neptali Gonzales, Jr., Baguio City Rep. Bernardo M. Vergara, Benguet Rep. Ronald M. Cosalan, Aurora Rep. Juan Edgardo Angara and Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez amends Section 293 of Republic Act (RA) No. 7160 as amended otherwise known as the Local code of 1991. (Dexter A. See)

CHILDREN’S HEALTH MONITORED

LINGAYEN — It  has  been  the  priority  of  the  provincial  government to monitor the  health  of  the  Pangasinenses   especially  the  children . This  time the  provincial health office has  assured  that all children aged nine months to seven years and 11 months will be given vaccination shots against measles rubella. Dr. Ana de Guzman said her office in coordination with the health department and municipal health offices will go from door-to-door to reach all children from all over Pangasinan. The vaccination campaign runs from April 6 to May 6. (Liezle Basa Inigo)
