Crime does not pay. Nor would you, probably, if you had to shell out $800 to pay for a wallet.

Paranoia is taken to whole new level as men’s luxury goods maker, Dunhill, recently unveiled a “Biometric Wallet,” a wallet so safe they claim it’s “virtually indestructible.”

The only way one could open the wallet is by scanning one’s fingerprint, via a fingerprint strip located on the outside of the wallet. It is also equipped with Bluetooth, which allows the user to link the wallet with their mobile phone. The idea being that if the wallet is even mere feet away from you, your mobile phone can set off an alarm. Perfect for when you’ve just been pick-pocketed.

Also perfect for someone who just misplaces their wallet a lot. Kind of like a hi-end Clapper.

But what happens if you don’t have your mobile phone with you? Perhaps Dunhill should also create a case for mobile phones with similar features as the wallet. Maybe make it a 2-for-1 deal.

The wallet itself is made of a carbon fiber shell, lined with genuine leather and equipped with a stainless steel money clip.

But as enticing as all the features are on this wallet, the price tag is still a bit of a turn off. So is its bulkiness. As they say, “Almost any standard wallet looks slicker than this clamshell.”
