S.A.L.N. filing deadline April 30
ILOILO CITY, Iloilo, Philippines (PNA) – The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is reminding all public officials and employees in Western Visayas to file their Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Networth (SALN) on or before the April 30, 2011 deadline.
SALN filing is a requirement mandating all in the government service to declare his or her financial status by filing their SALN on or before April 30.
The CSC advised all to use the 1994 version of the SALN Form which can be downloaded from the CSC website at www.csc.gov.ph.
Bantayan gets electricity
CEBU CITY, Cebu (PNA) – Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia recently switched on electricity in the remote islet-barangay of Lipayran in Bantayan Island off Cebu’s northernmost tip.
The barangay has 4,000 residents and is an hour away by pumpboat from Bantayan proper and a two-hour ferry ride from Hagnaya port in the Cebu mainland to Sta. Fe. Wharf.
Barangay Lipayran chairman Yolly Lumongtad said her community has seven sitios, including the island sitio of Mambakayao.
P.O.E.A. campaign to Guimaras
ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PNA) – The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has brought its seminar on "Anti-Illegal Recruitment Campaign and Trafficking in Persons” to Guimaras Island.
The activity is part of POEA- Iloilo’s effort to bring the program closer to the grassroots level, citing that the campaign against illegal recruitment has been one of the major concerns of the government.
Guimaras is among 208 local government units nationwide that have availed of the massive information and education campaign under the “Illegal Recruitment-Free Local Government Units Campaign.”
In this campaign, the Public Employment Services Office (PESO), law enforcement units and the academe play a very critical role.
Island tourism peked up
BORONGAN, Eastern Samar (PIA) – The island barangay of Divinubo is stepping up its tourism initiatives with the assistance of government agencies. Divinubo boasts of a beautiful beach, white sand, and pristine waters.
Thirty minutes off the coast of Barangay Lalawigan,it is a favorite destination of local tourists. barangay has availed of four units of tents and accessories that overnight tourists can rent.
Recently, tents which can be rented out to visitors were donated by the Department of Labor and Employment to help locals in their tourism program. The tents were valued at P90,000.
D.E.N.R. task force formed
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte (PIA) – In line with government efforts to combat illegal logging activities in Eastern Visayas, a task force led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 8 has been organized at the national, regional and provincial levels, with members from the Department of Interior & Local Government (DILG), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Philippine Army (PA).
Creation of the Task Force was a result of President Benigno Aquino’s mandate per Executive Order No. 23 dated February 1, 2011, wherein a moratorium on the cutting and harvesting of timber in the natural and residual forests has been declared and the creation of an Anti-illegal Logging Task Force is mandated.
