The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is continuously monitoring on the condition of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the affected areas of volcano eruption in Indonesia.
So far, the DMW said it has not monitored any casualty or affected by the volcanic activity of Mount Ibu in Indonesia’s North Maluku province.
In an advisory, the DMW said its Migrant Workers Office in Singapore (MWO-SG) is coordinating closely with the Philippine Consulate General in Manado City (PCG-Manado) as it monitors the situation of some 550 Filipinos in the area.
"MWO-SG said Indonesian authorities reported no foreigners injured after Mount Ibu on the island of Halmahera erupted violently on the evening of 18 May 2024," it said.
MWO-SG will maintain regular contact with PCG-Manado and provide the DMW Head Office with updates as these develop.
