TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Philippines — A recent survey conducted by a university here shows that tourists who come to Bohol for fun and leisure are generally satisfied with the services they get and the experience they go through while in the province.

The survey, conducted by the Research Center of the Holy Name University (HNU) which was commissioned by the Deutsche Geselschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), indicated that most of the tourist respondents of the survey were clearly satisfied with Bohol's major destinations, including the Chocolate Hills, the tarsiers in Loboc, and beaches and dive spots in waters off Panglao and Balicasag Island.

German consultant and private sector senior adviser Uwe Sturmann, however, pointed out that the survey is random and not scientific.

Sturmann explained that the satisfaction survey is to guide Bohol in determining weak areas to pinpoint possible intervention and initiate moves to address these issues.

According to research specialist Ma Paz Espiritu, the survey was conducted among departing passengers at the Tagbilaran City airport and seaport, or basically those who have experienced taking a tour of Bohol.

Among the comments made regarding those areas are insufficient parking spaces, inadequate garbage disposal system including the presence of rubbish, stinking restroom facilities, inadequate measures in protecting the environment and improper management of resources.

Respondents also suggested the putting up a good restaurant to offer diverse food, more activities at the Chocolate Hills and a covered walkway to serve as shelter for people on the view deck.
