Topel Lee back with new horror film

MANILA, Philippines -- Director Topel Lee is coming up with another horror flick entitled “Tumbok,” starring Cristine Reyes and Carlo Aquino. Topel Lee directed several horror films in the past, among them “Sundo,” “Ouija” and some episodes of Regal Films’ “Shake, Rattle & Roll,” a perennial Metro Manila Film Festival topgrosser.
In “Tumbok,” Grace (Cristine Reyes) and Ronnie (Carlo Aquino) are newlyweds, who inherit a condominium unit from Ronnie’s deceased father. As they move into the unit, they face a series of mishaps and misfortunes.
The unit is inhabited by strange tenants. Grace starts to experience haunting incidents and strange sightings. Soon, they find out that they are expecting a baby and are thrilled with their answered prayer.
As Grace starts to unravel the occurrences in the building, she discovers that the building was built on a “Tumbok,” a convergence of three roads which is believed to be unlucky. Tragic deaths happen caused by Mark (Ryan Eigenmann), the building caretaker who turns out to be the devil trapping souls into the vortex. He is also the incubus that makes love to Grace.
Can Grace and Ronnie save themselves from the impending danger brought about by the “Tumbok?” What mystery lies in the past that haunts our lead characters?
You will know the answers on May 4 when “Tumbok” starts showing in local theaters.
