Pizza Hut, Taco Bell grant P4.5 million to WFP
Pizza Hut endorser Diether Ocampo and Philippine Pizza, Inc. Chief Operating Officer Lars Peterson and Representative Stephen Anderson awarded 4.5-million peso donation for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to support its school feeding programme in Mindanao.
In November 2010, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell launched their fourth annual World Hunger Relief campaign in the Philippines. Over 165 restaurants in the country raised funds for WFP’s Emergency School Feeding programme, which provides nutritious meals to 80,000 elementary school children in conflict-affected areas of Central Mindanao.
“I am truly happy to be a part of the Pizza Hut family and to be able to do what I can to help its cause. WFP is supporting the process of bringing children back to school after years of displacement and I wish for their continued success in their fight against hunger,” said Diether Ocampo, who himself volunteered to be part of the World Hunger Relief campaign.

The Bloomfields launch new CD ‘Hit The Ground Running’
If you’re looking for an album with an old soul and a youthful flair, look no further than the front racks of SM record bars, specifically the CD that reads “Hit the Ground Running” by the best live band in Manila, The Bloomfields. The band is composed of Louie Poco (bass and vocals), Rocky Collado (drums and vocals), Lakan Hila (lead Guitar and vocals), and Dino Pascual (rhythm Guitars and vocals).
The Bloomfields have taken it a notch this time by releasing original tracks as opposed to their debut album, which were mostly covers of ’60s rock songs. This second album, however, still has their characteristic upbeat, mod vibe but with a Filipino twist.
Their carrier single “Express Highway” echoes the sentiment of most people to just get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
“Express Highway” which was released just this March, is already climbing the charts in major radio stations. The album also features tracks like “Panaginip” and “Sigaw.” All tracks were written by The Bloomfields with contributions from their own staff.
The band, which was criticized for only catering to sophisticates, is guaranteed to capture the hearts of many with their very Pinoy offerings.
The Bloomfields launched their album April 16 at SM The Block. The launch marked an important new phase for The Bloomfields and it will also jumpstart the band’s nationwide SM mall tour slated for the 2nd quarter of the year. This is in partnership with SM Music and Video, which is the album’s exclusive distributor. “Hit the Ground Running,” which was mastered in Abbey Road promises to strike a common chord with Filipinos in both sound and meaning.
