Kapampangan is 7th online
ANGELES CITY, Philippines — The Kapampangan dialect has emerged as the seventh most-used in online social networking after the Kapampangan Indigenous Tweets Page, just two weeks old, has zoomed past other languages on the Indigenous Tweets Page, which is dedicated to non-dominant indigenous languages around the world. Kapampangan is the native language (Amanung Sisuan in the native tongue) of Pampanga and some towns in Tarlac.
It is now the seventh largest indigenous dialect in Twitter, with 355 tweeting in the Amanung Sisuan. Kapampangans was notable for being the first Philippine language on the site, which includes 82 languages from around the world. (Mark Anthony Manuel)
Cavite coastal road extension
CAVITE — The Radial-1 (R-1) Expressway Extension will be formally opened to motorists today (April 27) with a simple ceremony to be led by President Aquino and Governor Jonvic Remulla and some other national and local officials.
The Cavite Provincial Information and Community Affairs Department (PICAD) said that the ceremonial launching of the seven-kilometer road extension is set at 8 a.m. today.
The new reclaimed road will connect the 6.6 kilometer Manila-Cavite Coastal Road to Kawit town, known as the country’s birthplace of Philippine independence.
The road, which is 92% complete, was earlier opened to the public for the dry run. (Anthony Giron)
Biggest mango pie
SAN Carlos City, PANGASINAN — Despite the intense heat of summer season, people from different walks of life flocked the city of San Carlos yesterday to witness the display of a big mango pie in its attempt to get the World record.
The main highlight of this year's celebration of the Mango Bamboo Festival is to establish a national or world record on biggest mango pie where San Carlos City is known for famous sweet-tasting mango.

Taytay acts on solid waste
TAYTAY, Rizal — The Taytay local government has announced the availability of two viable locations for their new solid waste disposal facility amid implementation of safe closure procedure for their 13-hectare controlled dumpsite in Barangay Muzon of this locality.
In a statement, Mayor Joric Gacula said that the local government is closely examining two sites --- one is a mine-out area in Barangay Dolores near the border of this town and Antipolo City and another at the upland portion of Barangay Muzon. (DCC)
Cavite is Malaria-free
Cavite, the country’s most populated province, has been malaria- free for the last six years.
The Provincial Health Office (PHO) reported this after the nation observed World Malaria Day last Monday (April 25).
But Doctor Cherry Taguiang-Abu, Our Lady of Pillar Medical Center Infectious Disease Monitoring Committee chairperson, said that with the pronouncement, residents should not let their guards down against mosquito-borne diseases, particularly dengue which afflicted thousands of people every year.
