Cops recover 7 stolen vechiles
CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan – The relentless campaign of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office (PPO) against carnapping has led to the recent recovery of seven stolen vehicles and arrest of three suspects.
Senior Supt. Fernando H. Mendez Jr., PPO director, presented to media yesterday three suspected carnap ring members he identified as Eduardo Cecilio Centenaje Jr., 50; Antonio Orsini Sayson Jr., 32; and Dave Santos Centenaje, 18, all of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.
They were nabbed separately the other day after yielding five motorcycles and two tricycles earlier reported stolen in this province. (Freddie C. Velez)
Thousands off to Pangasinan
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Thousands of domestic and foreign tourists are expected to flood this province next week in time for the annual “Pistay Dayat” or Sea Festival, with a heavy concentration of visitors in the beaches of Bonuan, Tondaligan, San Fabian, Lingayen, and the Hundred Islands in Alaminos City.
This year’s celebration of Pistay Dayat will be centered here with 100 colorful boats participating in a fluvial parade that will pass through the clean rivers of this province on May 1.
In Alaminos City, the Gali-langoy Eco-Adventure Race will kick off on the same day while street dancing and a concert will be held in this town. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
Brave lass marvels P.N.P.
TERESA, Rizal – A 15-year-old lass who had the courage to escape from her abductors, two days after she had been kidnapped, paved the way for police to arrest five suspected human traffickers at their safehouse in Barangay Prinza, here, last Tuesday.
Senior Supt. Manuel Cesar Prieto, Rizal Police Provincial Office director, said a deeper investigation into the activities of the arrested – Bobby Borico, 37; Jimmy Gumban, 37; Rudito Lacaba, 54; Felipe Ramirez, 48; and Rosalie Montecalvo, 37 – is under way.
The lass said she escaped through a back exit at the suspects’ safehouse at the VMG Sports Plaza on Tuesday while they were busy having a meeting. (Madelynne Dominguez)
Calamba to get rid of plastics
CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – In a bid to end the use of plastics, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) here started yesterday the two-day seminar on the city’s first “Alternative Packaging Technology Trade Fair” at Luisa Ridge Hotspring Resort.
Hosted by Mayor Joaquin Chipeco Jr., the event is part of the preparation for the implementation of the city ordinance No.10-481 prohibiting the use of plastic bags on dry goods and regulating its utilization on wet goods and also banning the use of polystyrene foam, more commonly known as Styrofoam, said CENRO Loida Humarang.
