Anne Curtis is the most followed Pinoy on Twitter

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Anne Curtis is the hottest local celebrity in Twitter world based on the unprecedentedly huge following she has gained on the popular networking site.

According to ANCALERTS, the ABS-CBN news channels’ official Twitter account, Curtis just recently earned a million followers on her official Twitter site. She is the first Filipino to have done so.

“Congratulations @annecurtissmith, for being the first Pinoy on Twitter to get one million followers,” read a post on the site.

Already aware of the achievement, the actress herself tweeted via her official site @annecurtissmith, “Today is a day to celebrate! The royal wedding and 1Million followers! Makapag redlipstick nga! :p”

Curtis followed this with a lengthier post that read, “1 million followers! Wooooow! Thankyou to everyone for the follow here on Twitter! Thanks for wanting to follow here on Twitter! Thanks for wanting to follow and read all the nonsense, craziness and random thoughts I like to share! I love Twitter for making it possible for me to have instant communication and feedback from you guys and also a way for me to follow the people I admire! Cheers guys and thank you again for the love and support! Waaaaaah. You all made my day! Love you all!!!x.”

Many of the actresses' celebrity friends congratulated her.

Actress Angel Locsin, who herself was nominated for this year's Shorty's -- an award giving body that honor the best people and organizations on Twitter and other social media --tweeted, “Congrats anita @annecurtissmith! :) love yew!”

Singer-actress Agot Isidro posted, “@annecurtissmith Congratulations!!!! Over a million followers!!! Woohoo!!!”

Gay comedian Vice Ganda also joined in tweeting, “Congrats to my sistah @annecurtissmith!”

Weatherman and Curtis’ “Showtime” co-host and “TV Patrol” weatherman, Kim Atienza cajoled Curtis tweeting, “isang milyon na ang followers ni @annecurtissmith! yahoo! red crab! red crab! red crab!”

According to Twitter grader, the 26-year old Curtis joined the networking site on March 10, 2009 -- among the first few local celebrities to have latched on the site.

The networking and micro-blogging site was established in 2006. Since then it has gained popularity worldwide and is estimated to have 200 million users.
