The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has conducted nationwide education campaign on its Ease of Paying Taxes (EOPT) program over the past four weeks.
BIR Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui Jr. reported that the roadshow was well-received by crowds in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, and Koronadal, aiming to inform taxpayers about the updates introduced by the EOPT.
"This nationwide EOPT roadshow highlights the BIR's transition from a collection-focused agency to a service-oriented one under the Bagong Pilipinas movement," Lumagui stated.
Lumagui emphasized that the bureau is open to receiving suggestions and comments on tax regulations from taxpayers.
Additionally, initiatives like the EOPT roadshows are designed to bring tax education directly to the public.
He further mentioned that the BIR is committed to educating taxpayers about tax laws, even to the point of visiting them in their respective revenue regions and districts.
The schedule for the next set of roadshows is currently being finalized, with announcements to be made in the coming months.
