PANGASINAN, Philippines — The establishment of the OFWs Desk in Lingayen is not only for the crisis but was established to trace the numbers of undocumented OFWs in different countries.

Board Member Ranjit Ramos Shahani of the 6th district said, its the responsibility of the provincial government to protect the interest of the OFWs documented and undocumented which are helping the national government thru their remittances.

"Napapakinabangan din ng pamahalaan ang mga undocumented kaya marapat din lang na sila ay maproteksiyunan."Shahani said. (Liezle Basa Inigo)

New Lucena traffic scheme

LUCENA CITY — To solve the traffic congestion in this city, new traffic scheme will be introduced by the city government as a result of the 6-month experimental traffic re-routing program, announced here, Wednesday.

The new traffic scheme is provided with education, information and engineering design as presented by city mayor Barbara Ruby Talaga before the transport, business sectors and non-government organization during the final consultative meeting.

Talaga explained that the new scheme covers the re-orientation of traffic enforcers, putting international standard of signage, proper information dissemination using multi-media and deputizing barangay tanods. (Danny Estacio)

Fingerlings dispersed

The Cavite Office of Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) is set to disperse some one million fingerlings in brackish waters to boost the province's fish production.

Provincial Agriculturist Engineer Mario C. Silan said that the ceremonial fingerlings dispersal is set from 7 to 8 a.m. today (Thursday) at Binakayan Shellfish Demo Center (BSDC)- Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Building in Binakayan, Kawit town.

The recipients of the one million bangus fry, saline tilapia fingerlings and koi/ornamental fish are the towns of Naic, Ternate, Kawit and Noveleta and Cavite City. (Anthony Giron)

San Pedro more secure

SAN PEDRO, Laguna — Residents of this town feel they are more secure as they noticed greater police visibility being enforced by the San Pedro police lead by the town's new chief of police Supt. Kirby John Kraft.

Since assuming his new position , no major robbery-holdup incident has been reported and they have already arrested 16 suspected drug pushers and users including a British national.

In his greater police visibility program, Kraft increases police checkpoints in the upper villages of San Pedro like the resettlement areas and deploys police patrol along the national highway.

Bacoor Marching Band Festival

CAVITE — Bacoor is celebrating its fiesta on Sunday (May 8) with the Marching Band Festival as one of the highlight activities.

The Tourism Council said that the three-day celebration will begin tomorrow (Friday) with the Festival opening ceremony at the town plaza and end on Sunday night with the so-called “Bacoor Explosion” (grand fireworks display) at Starmarine Complex.

The first-ever National Marching Band Competition with at least 50 participants nationwide is set from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The band contest is deemed as the biggest-ever in Bacoor and elsewhere in the country. (Anthony Giron)
