MANILA, Philippines – ABS-CBN news anchor Ted Failon, born Mario Teodoro Failon Etong, is set to add another feather in his cap after The Rotary Club of Manila (RCM) named him broadcaster of the year.

Failon, 49, host-anchor of “Failon Ngayon,” "TV Patrol," and DZMM’s “Tambalang Failon at Webb,” was selected by the RCM board of judges for the award.

It is not the first recognition afforded Failon, a former disc jockey and congressman. Among many awards he has received since starting his broadcasting career in 1982 are: Best Public Service Program Host (for the now defunct TV program “Hoy! Gising"); Most Admired Personalities in Television honor from Anak TV; and KBP Golden Dove awards as “Best TV Newscaster” in 2008 and “Best Radio Newscaster” in 2010.

The RCM organized its journalism awards in 1966 to honor outstanding contributions of individuals and media agencies in print, television, and radio. This year's awards honor outstanding journalists in the tri-media and the social media.

Failon is set to receive the citation in an awarding ceremony to be held today, May 5, at the Manila Polo Club.

I don't think he deserves this recognition because I've noticed Ted sometimes an irresponsible news commentator in one of his tv programs. He should take an extra precautions in commenting issues if he has no evidence or whatsoever.
