DOLE releases pay rule on Independence Day

Private sector employees who would report to work on Independence Day, a regular holiday which falls on Wednesday, June 12, are entitled to receive 200 percent of their daily pay, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said.

With this, the DOLE reminded private companies to strictly observe the pay rules under Labor Advisory No. 07, series of 2024, for the said holiday.

If the employees did not work, they shall be paid 100 percent of their salary for days indicated, the DOLE said.

Employees who will work beyond eight hours shall be compensated with an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate on top of the 200 percent.

In addition, employees who will work on the regular holiday, which happened to fall on their rest day, will receive an additional 30 percent of the basic wage on the first eight hours, as stated in the advisory, while those who will work overtime will be compensated an additional 30 percent of their hourly wage on the specified day.
