ABS-CBN gambles on story about second chances
MANILA, Philippines -- From the pigeonhole: If you were given a second chance to correct the faulty acts that you have done to others in order to save your soul from eternal damnation, would you take it? And if so, will you be willing to start from the beginning?
From the makers of “May Bukas Pa,” ABS-CBN presents another tale of hope and faith “100 Days to Heaven.”
A story of second chances, friendship, and faith, “100 Days to Heaven” centers on the life of Anna Manalastas, played by both Xyriel Manabat (as the young Anna) and Coney Reyes (as the adult Anna). Anna is a mean and shrewd business woman who happens to be the owner of the biggest toy company in the Philippines. The joy that she gives to children is different from how she runs her business. With her sudden death, Anna realizes that she is about to go to Hell. She then strikes a deal with the Gate Keeper of Heaven to give her a second chance in order to gain a place in Heaven. She was given the opportunity to undo her wrong doings, but with a catch – she must do it within 100 days and not as an adult, but as her seven year old self.
After playing supporting roles in the teleseryes “Ysabella” and “Rubi,” veteran actress Coney Reyes now stars in “100 Days to Heaven” along with child superstar, Xyriel Manabat who also makes a comeback after the teleserye “Noah.”
Directed by Malu L. Sevilla, “100 Days to Heaven” is no ordinary TV series. It tells about the struggles of everyday living aims to remind both the young and the old of the important values that the children of today may have neglected.
On the other hand, characters of Jodi Sta. Maria as Sophia, Louise Abuel as Kevin, Joel Torre as Andres, Dominic Ochoa as Bobby, Valerie Concepcion as Miranda, Rafael Rosell as Bart, Smokey Manaloto as Bruce, and Neil Coleta as Jopet, will add color to the unique story of “100 Days To Heaven.”
“100 Days to Heaven” starts airing today, May 9.
Kim Chiu counts her blessing
After her graduation last March where she earned her high-school diploma after passing the Department of Education’s Alternative Learning System examinations, Kim Chui celebrates her 21st birthday this year full of hope and confidence as she moves forward to even bigger and brighter opportunities in her young life.
“I really like receiving and also giving gifts. For me, receiving gifts evoke a feeling where it makes you feel special and loved,” attests Kim.
When asked to list down some of the gifts she received over the years, she said that the most unique gift she ever received was a set of love birds. “I found them unique in the sense that these birds calm me in a certain way. Plus¸ animals are seldom given as gifts to a person,” she explains.
As for the smallest and the biggest gifts she got, she said the smallest she got was a ring while the biggest one was a “pink” car that she received during her 18th birthday.
But the gift she most loved is not material in nature. “For me, friendship is the best gift I could ever receive or give. I have had friends who loved me for what I am and I am very grateful for it,” she explains.
Kim also received another special gift as she becomes the newest product endorser of Goya. Kim will present her specially-designed cake made of Goya’s baking products (Goya Easymelt Buttons and 100 percent Natural Cocoa Powder) with her favorite Goya Pretzel Twists as decor.
