MANILA, Philippines — The 22nd Philippine Advertising Congress (PAC) anticipates about 3,000 delegates at the CamSur Watersports Complex (CWC) of Naga City, Camarines Sur on November 16 to 19, 2011. This is the first time the ad congress will be held in CamSur, the country’s No. 1 tourist destination as indicated in the latest report of the Department of Tourism (DoT).

The venue has been regarded as a breakthrough choice, and is fundamentally in line with the 22nd PAC’s theme, “Change the Game.” CamSur is one of the most inspiring success stories in Philippine government in recent times.

By establishing a niche in water sports tourism and investing in the facilities and infrastructure required to maintain a tourist destination, the province highlighted itself on the country’s map. Today, the CamSur local government is the only eco-tourism zone in the Philippines endorsed by the Department of Trade and Industry’s special attached agency, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority.

“Change the Game” aims to encourage the advertising industry on a similar path – to take charge of its future by breaking through old habits and creating opportunities out of the unprecedented challenges confronting the industry today.

Because the CWC is the only resort in the Philippines housing a convention site within its complex, the learning and sporting activities of the 22nd PAC would have better balance. This year is expected to be the most active ad congress. The CWC is renowned for water sports after all.

CamSur has hosted various high profile events even before the 22nd PAC. This August would be the third time the Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines triathlon has been held in the province. It is also the official venue of the annual Summit Water CamSur Marathon and the Ultimate Wake Championship, two of the country’s most important sporting events which include athletes from as far as the United States, Europe, South Africa and from all over Asia.

The CWC resort itself accommodates a total of 1,150 people within the six types of Villa del Rey lodgings. Accommodations inside the CWC where all 22nd PAC activities would take place should fill up fast, being the most convenient place for delegates to stay. So it is important to register for the ad congress early.

It is also important to take note of the online registration system this year. The system would be launched this month by the efforts of the 22nd PAC administration committee. All requests for accommodation must be made through the online registration system.

“We appeal to all delegates to book with us and not directly with the hotels and we encourage them to sign up as early as possible to secure desired accommodation,” says administration committee chair Blen Fernando.

Combined with nearby hotels, Naga City is ready to accommodate participants for the 22nd PAC: The Avenue Plaza Hotel is the best choice for delegates looking for luxury accommodations in Naga. It is the newest hotel in the city and offers all the services and amenities commonly found in top-rated chains. A quick search in TripAdvisor pulled up mostly rave reviews along the lines of “clean and classy,” “Naga’s secret treasure” and “Bicolano excellence.”

Villa Caceres Hotel promises guests the Bicolano way of hospitality. Rooms are designed and furnished with an old world flair, yet the accommodations and facilities are no less modern or comfortable.

The Starview Hotel, Regent Hotel and CBD Plaza Hotel also offer accommodations most suitable to people traveling on business. Most of Naga City’s hotels have been newly renovated or refurbished. The ad congress delegates hence make up some of the guests that are first to enjoy the enhanced facilities.

Transportation units would be on standby round-the-clock to shuttle everyone between their hotels and the CWC or around CamSur virtually whenever they wish. The local government is also organizing tighter security to safeguard the delegates.

More preparations are underway on the parts of the 22nd PAC organizing committees and CamSur to ensure a successful ad congress. With more than enough accommodations in the venue for everyone who wish to participate, all delegates need to do is come, learn and enjoy.
