'Habagat' rains to persist in Metro Manila, western parts of the country
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, June 6, said rains triggered by the southwest monsoon or “habagat” are expected to affect Metro Manila and other areas of the country’s western section over the next 24 hours.
The habagat also unleashed heavy rains over Metro Manila and other parts of the country on Wednesday, June 5, resulting in flooding in several areas.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin on Thursday, PAGASA said the habagat may bring cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms to Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
PAGASA warned that flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to moderate to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA also warned the public about possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
