Mayor Lani Cayetano said she will not allow the establishment of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in Taguig.
“A POGO refers to an entity that offers and participates in offshore gaming services by providing games to players, taking bets, and paying the winning players. The gaming activity refers to online games of chance through the internet, using a network and software, exclusively for offshore-authorized players who have registered and established an online gaming account with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR)-licensed POGO,” according to a report issued by the Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department of the House of Representatives.

“Malinaw na ang problemang hatid ng POGO. Mula noon hanggang ngayon, walang lugar ang POGO sa Taguig! (The problem brought by POGO is clear. From then until now, POGO has no place in Taguig!),” Cayetano posted on Facebook.
She said that as the mayor, she believes that “while we sought to grow our industries by cultivating a business-friendly environment in our City, our eyes are also set in prioritizing programs that serve the welfare of the people, guided by our faith and integrity.”
“Taguig City only allows legal businesses, prioritizing the safety of the City’s residents. Hindi po natin pinapayagan ang mga gawaing illegal sa ating Probinsyudad (We don’t allow illegal activities in our Probinsyudad),” she added.
Cayetano said, Nangangahulugan lang po na kahit pa kinakailangan nating itaguyod ang ating economic growth, our decisions should always reflect our values. (It only means that while there is a need to promote our economic growth, our decisions should always reflect our values),” she said.
