More Philhealth cards given away

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines — A large number of Pangasinenses continue to benefit from the distribution of PhilHealth cards under the health program of Governor Amado T. Espino. Among the latest beneficiaries were 1,057 residents in San Fabian.

Barangay Kagawad Emilia Jugo, one of the beneficiaries, said she went through a kidney operation last year at a private hospital in Baguio City and almost did not have to spend any money because of the PhilHealth card benefit. Iba, San Felipe D.I.L.G.-compliant

IBA, Zambales, Philippines – Even before the launching of the first Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG’s) “Tapatan Roadshow” last week, the agency’s provincial office here announced that two of the province’s 13 towns are already fully-compliant with the Full Disclosure Policy.

These are the municipalities of Iba and San Felipe, which have adopted the DILG’s Full Disclosure Policy of transparency in its operations which is aimed at minimizing, preventing, and completely ridding the government of graft and corruption. (Jonas Reyes)

Youth leader vows S.K. reforms

BAGAC, Bataan, Philippines — Vowing to professionalize the youth organization, the national president of the Sangguniang Kabataan National Federation (SKNF) pledged yesterday to work hard and institute reforms in the youth organization.

SKNF President Assistant Secretary Louise Gabriel “Gabz” del Rosario, 16, issued directives to his provincial and city leaders, discouraging them from soliciting funds for their projects.

The SK President, who is being supported by his father Bagac Mayor Ramil del Rosario, said it may be a bitter pill to take but said the SK must earn respect and maintain its credibility and integrity. (Mar T. Supnad)


Tissue culture lan in Cavite

INDANG, Cavite, Philippines — The Cavite State University (CavSU) in this municipality will operate a new tissue culture laboratory in a bid to boost agri-business in this province.

The state-of the-art laboratory was opened last Thursday after a simple ceremony led by 7th District Representative

Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla and Dr. Divinia Chavez CavSU president. The laboratory is one of the projects of CavSU and the local government under Governor Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla Jr. after the launching of the Cavite Agri-Business Festival last February at the Provincial Capitol in Trece Martires City. Cainta's brightest get education aid

CAINTA, Rizal, Philippines — More than 100 honor students from public elementary and high schools in this town have been given financial assistance in line with the local government’s pro-education program.

Mayor Ramon “Mon” Ilagan personally handed over cash gift to the students who trooped to the Cainta Elementary School for the simple ceremony recently.

In his speech, Ilagan urged the honor students, mostly are product of poor families, to strive harder and not to give up their studies despite of various obstacles including financial problems that they are facing.

Ilagan also appealed to the parents of the excelling kids to continue supporting their children’s desire to finish their studies. (Nel B. Andrade)
