Power plants now disaster-ready
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Philippines — With typhoon “Chedeng” threatening Luzon, the SN Aboitiz Power Benguet (SNAPB) said yesterday its hydropower plants are prepared for disasters.
SNAPB said it recently presented to to stakeholders and affected communities the operations and maintenance procedures o food operations, dam discharg warning and protocol, and emergency action plan of the dams operating in the provinc feIt said these are all in place in both the Ambuklao and Binga hydro-electric power plants to ensure effcient and systematic service and allay fears of imminent dam-related disasters. Check livelihood program for men
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines — Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. assured farmers in this province of full support when they embark on livelihood ventures such as hog and goat raising.
In his consultation-dialogue with farmers and irrigators’ associations in this province, Espino emphasized that farmers, and not just womenfolk, can beneft from his livelihood program undertaken at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center, here.
In encouraging menfolk to go into livelihood activities, the governor noted that after the planting season, most farmers are idle but they can be productive in the period that they are just waiting for the harvest season. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
Cops taught on human rights
CAMP GEN. VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Offcials and members of the Police Regional Offce (PRO) 4-A completed recently a two-day seminar on Human Rights through the initiative of the Human Rights Affairs Offce in Camp Crame.
Organized with the support of Hanns Seidel Foundation based in Germany, the workshop attended by 60 select human rights desk officers from Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon, was held at the Multi Purpose Hall, therefor more effective protection and service to the public. Pick-up ram 3 vehicles
MANILA, Philippines -- At least seven people were injured when a pick-up driven by a Japanese citizen rammed
two tricycles and a responding police mobile car in Carmona, Cavite, a Police Provincial Offce (PPO) report said yesterday.
Police Offcer 2 Angelo A. Salvador, offcer-on-case, identifed the suspect as one Takayuki Tomiyama, 43, married, of Muntinlupa City.
A police patrol team held the Japanese when his Ford Explorer Pick-Up (roRon-101) was blocked, following a pursuit from Maguyam Road, near Mountview, in Barangay Bancal, Carmona, to an area near Alabang Exit in Muntinlupa City. (Anthony Giron)
