Lakeshore: Fiesta Pampanga a hit

MEXICO, Pampanga, Philippines – Celebrities joined hundreds of visitors last Friday in Lakeshore’s Fiesta Pampanga, a celebration that sowcased native delicacies, leisure biking and free boat rides along its world-class manmade lake.

The famed Ibon-Ebon dancers from Candaba, this province, and bands also livened up the festive mood as visitors shopped for Pampanga delicacies and products in the flea market.

Lakeshore Events Manager Abby Tuazon hopes the Fiesta Pampanga becomes a signature event to be held annually.

Pilar Hall set for repairs

PILAR, Bataan – After years in the drawing board, the long-overdue renovation of the municipal hall and historic giant flaming sword monument in front of it will push through with a R34-million budget, Mayor Charlie Pizarro revealed yesterday.

After the bid for the implementation of the two projects is published, their construction will be initiated immediately, said Pizarro. The mayor said Bataan Governor Enrique “Tet” Garcia and Rep. Abet S. Garcia (2nd District, Bataan) will also provide additional fund for the projects. (Mar T. Supnad)

Rizal bares June fiesta events

ANTIPOLO CITY – Various activities are lined up next month as a prelude to the celebration of the province’s 110th anniversary here, Governor Casimiro “Junjun” Ynares III said yesterday. On June 2, bargain hunting parents will get the chance to scout for school supplies and accessories in the “Diskwento Caravan” of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) at the Ynares Center grounds.

The caravan aims to offer school supplies at a relatively lower price compared to department stores. Students who have worked in the Capitol under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) program of the Department of Labor and Employment and the provincial government will be rewarded with certificates and cash incentives during a ceremony on June 3 at the capitol here. San Fernando vs. cervical cancer

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Knowing that cervical cancer is the second killer disease among women, the city government and the Bravehearts here sponsored the vaccination of employees here over the weekend. At least 100 female city government employees were given free cervical cancer vaccination last Sunday. The activity was aimed at preventing the spread of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), the microbes that cause cervical cancer, particularly on women – which the World Health Organization (WHO) statistics show to be the second killer disease for women. Treasurers given tax scheme talk

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – For a systematic flow of Real Property Tax (RPT) collection, a two-day training was completed recently by the provincial government in coordination with Deutsche Gesselschaft fur Internationale Zusammernarbeit (GIZ). The event was focused on RPT payment computerization scheme held last May 26 to 27 at the ITAX Office in Kalantiao Building here. Municipal treasurers from all towns in Pangasinan were invited to attend training together with their staff specifically IT staff and encoders. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
