Pampanga gives aid to Aetas

SAN FERNANDO CITY, Philippines – Just like her past visits to the Aeta communities in the upland of Porac and Floridablanca towns, Pampanga Governor Lilia G. Pineda recently delivered food items and various goodies even as she committed the implementation of various development projects in the area.

In her most recent visit to barangay Sapang Uwak in upland Porac, the governor, together with Board Member Fritzie David-Dizon and other officials of the provincial government, distributed rice, canned goods, noodles and other food items to 314 Aeta families in the area.(Franco G. Regala)

Longest suman in San Fernando

SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga – Local folks from San Pedro Cutod in this city led by its officials served a 350 meters long with 2,050 pieces of suman made from four cavans of lakatan rice which stretching a kilometer, during the 257th feast day of its patron, St. Ferdinand III of Castille, here on Monday.

Ching Pangilinan, city tourism officer said the longest suman produced by the city, as also recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as a longest food in the world. The suman-sharing capped the two-week long celebration of the San Fernando fiesta. (Franco G. Regala)

Pasada card

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado Tuesday assured to continuously monitor and properly disseminate information to ensure that the Pantawid Pasada Card, a project of President Benigno Aquino III under the Public Transport Assistance Program (PTAP) will be fairly distributed to 15,000 Bulacan jeepney drivers who are legitimate franchise holders.

This is the governor’s statement Monday's press conference held before the formal card registration and distribution at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium. In his speech before various transport association, Usec. Jose Layug Jr. of the Department of Energy (DoE), the guest of honor and speaker, the PTAP aims to provide aid to transportation sector with its initial fund of P450 million. (Freddie C. Velez)

Kalinga gets P20-M DSWD aid

TABUK, Kalinga – The Cordillera office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) allotted a P20 million windfall fund as typhoon assistance to farmers who suffered losses from recent typhoons in the province so that they will be able to recover from the heavy losses that they have suffered in their bid to earn a living for their respective families.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO) Digna Dalutag said the aid is intended to indigent farmers who have not recovered yet from devastations of past typhoons. (Dexter A. See)

Doppler radar in Santo Tomas

BAGUIO CITY 31 – A weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) at the Mount Santo Tomas said that the multi-million Doppler Radar System is not functioning 100 percent which could result to erroneous forecasts in the prevailing weather not only in the city but also in other parts of Northern Luzon, especially during the onslaught of typhoons.

PAGASA Weather specialist said that the Doppler radar is working but it has an operational accuracy of 80 percent only thereby posing a serious threat to the weather forecasts of the bureau on the veracity of the weather disturbance that is fast approaching. (Dexter A. See)
