First party for Badjao kids

CEBU (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) partnered with Fusion Excel recently to host a party for over 200 Badjao kids of 4Ps beneficiaries from Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu. This was the first time that the kids ever experienced going to a party. The Badjao children were treated to a day of games and prizes hosted by a clown, and were offered a meal of fried chicken and ice cream. “The children of these families are the least likely to experience these kind of fun which every child should experience at one point in their life,” said Nimfa Alcordo of Fusion Excel.

D.T.I.’s B.E.S. in Roxas City 

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Provincial Office’s weekly Basic Entrepreneurship Seminar (BES) in Roxas City last May was joined in by 55 participants including returning overseas Filipino workers. The seminar addresses unemployment in the province by helping Capiceños, especially the jobless, start a small business. It is in line with the DTI’s ARISE (A Responsive and Innovative Strategy for Entrepreneurship) program which promotes entrepreneurship and help existing entrepreneurs improve their competencies. “The seminar is open and free for everybody,” said DTI–Capiz Public Information Officer Ken Cuñada.

C.L.M.M.R.H. has new eye center 

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occ. (PIA) — The Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital can now provide better service to Negrenses and Bacoleños with its new R3.2- million Bacolod Eye Center. The two-storey building was officially turned over to CLMMRH Chief of Hospital Dr. Epifania Simbul, Chief of Hospital III by Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia. The Bacolod Eye Center will not only serve Bacolod, but the entire Negros Occidental province since other local government units can also bring their sick to the hospital.

ANAKPAWIS assists East Samar folks

BORONGAN, Eastern Samar (PIA) — Students of Can-avid National High School in Borongan will welcome the new school year with a new classroom donated by party- list Anakpawis which gave P800,000 the new classroom. “We chose Can-avid because we saw how much students in that town needed a classroom,” Anakpawis coordinator Lloyed Laureno said. Anakpawis also donated R100,000 in livelihood aid to MacArthur town in Eastern Samar.

Dengue cases in C.V. dipping 

CEBU CITY, Cebu — Dengue in Central Visayas has been decreasing, with Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) data showing close to a 1,000-percent decrease in disease from January to May this year. RESU 7 data recorded only 1,687 cases with 13 deaths, or 978 percent lower from last year’s 2,665 cases and 24 deaths. Cebu City has 701 or the most number of cases (42 percent) followed by Mandaue City with 126 cases (7.5 percent), Lapu Lapu City with 124 cases, Talisay City with 75 cases and Dumaguete City with 62.
