Quezon Science High School created
TAYABAS, Quezon — Department of Education in Quezon (DepEd-Quezon) will supervise the newly created Quezon Science High School with its first batch of 77 freshmen students to be housed in a newly constructed 3-story school building in Isabang village in this town.
The new batches of brilliant students were belonging to the graduates who are best in English, Math and Science in their elementary education coming from various elementary schools in the province.
Quezon governor David Suarez and the provincial government will allocate big amount of funds to make sure that the QSNS will operate very well to be run and managed by selected intelligent faculty members from Quezon National High School. (Danny Estacio)
4.2 quake hits Babuyan Island
SINAIT, Ilocos Sur — A 4.2 magnitude tectonic tremor hit Babuyan Island last Saturday evening while three other mild quakes were recorded in other parts of the country on same day but no reported damage to properties or casualty, according to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) based here.
Local Phivolcs Researcher Julius Galdiano told Sunday that the 4.2 magnitude quake happened at 7:10 p.m. Saturday with its epicenter located at 8 kilometers southeast of Dalupiri Island - one of the Babuyan Group of Islands, with a depth of 2 kilometers and was tectonic in origin. Fisherman rescued
CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur — A fisherman, who was confirmed as one of the five missing fishermen from Bolinao, Pangasinan, was rescued by the local fishermen in Ilocos Sur along the shorelines in Barangay Mantanas, Santa Cruz, Ilocos Sur last Saturday. Chief Inspector Pedro Rafanan, Santa Cruz town’s Chief of Police, identified the rescued fisherman as Jesus Gatchalian Pungad, 31, a resident from Baranay Concordia, Bolinao, Pangasinan. Rafanan said that Pungad were rescued by fishermen Joni Lazaga and Rolly Dorin; both residents from Barangay Mantanas, Santa Cruz, Ilocos Sur. The rescued fisherman was brought to Sta. Lucia District Hospital for his treatment. (Freddie G. Lazaro)
Cavite police get new cars
TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — Governor Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla Jr. has vowed to modernize the provincial police with the procurement of more high-tech equipment, new patrol cars, and their other office and field needs.
The 43-year-old Remulla said he hopes to see the provincial police force with 50 prowl cars, more computers and equipment in police offices in the next five years.
This developed as the 43-year-old Remulla and other administration officials are set to turn over 10 new marked prowl cars. (Anthony Giron)
Bangus Festival in Alaminos City
ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan — The city officials here and people will celebrate the Independence Day today (June 13 ) with the thanksgiving mass and will followed by staging Bangus Eating Festival /Boodle fight. Mayor Hernani Braganza wil lead the celebration of traditional Independence Day with the people of Alaminos at 9 am.
Thousands of Bangus will be grilled and will be shared with the people thru boodle fight. (Liezle Basa Inigo )
