Muslim cemetery
BALANGA CITY, Bataan, Philippines — The Unity of Muslims Association of Bataan (UMA-Bataan), the umbrella organizations of Muslims residing in various parts of the province, expressed gratitude Monday to Governor Enrique “Tet” Garcia for providing them an exclusive cemetery for their dead.
The UMA-Bataan led by Sultan Abdullah Ampuan, a businessman based here, paid a courtesy call Monday morning on the governor at his office in Bulwagan just to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for providing them a decent burial for their loved ones. The area is a 3-hectare plot located in nearby Orani town. (Mar T. Supnad)
Wheelchairs donated
ANTIPOLO CITY — Various groups of persons with disabilities (PWD) in this province are this year’s beneficiaries of a livelihood and self-employment assistance from the provincial government as part of the on-going celebration of Rizal’s 110th anniversary and the 150th birth anniversary of our National Hero Jose Rizal.
This came as Rizal Governor Casimiro “Jun-Jun” Ynares, III handed over wheelchairs to a select group of PWD which has been actively involved in promoting the welfare of the disabled sector of the society in this province.
The young governor also cited two groups of PWDs, the Kaunlaran Associations of San Luis, Antipolo City and Mahabang Parang, in Angono for setting an example to fellow disabled by becoming independent and productive members of their sector.

Taal fish cage clearing begins
BATANGAS — The "Task Force Taal Lake" started Tuesday the four-day clearing operation against illegal fish cages in four towns in Batangas surrounded the lake, an information officer said. Jing Segismundo, Batangas Capitol information officer said the task force is expecting to demolish some 1,000 illegal fish cages operating in towns of Laurel,Talisay, San Nicolas, and Agoncillo.
About 7 a.m. Tuesday, Task Force Taal Lake composed of different government agencies including Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR),Department of Environment and Natural Resource (DENR), Batangas provincial government, PNP Coast Guard and Local Government Unit started their operation.
Segismundo said the total numbers of the illegal fish cages dismantled will be known on Friday, the last day of the clearing operation in the said towns. (Ferdinand F. Castro)
Bangus boodle
ALAMINOS CITY — This city,known for the famous Hundred Islands, sponsored Monday a boodle fight to show that its produce especially milkfish is safe to eat and toxin-free.
During the Fish tival (Ihaw ihaw and Boodle Fight ) Atty. Asis Perez BFA Director/BFAR Central Office said Alaminos City is fishkill free. (Liezle Basa Inigo)
Blood donation
TAYTAY, RIZAL — To help the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) in generating blood for the police personnel, the Rizal Police Provincial Office (PPO) based in this town, is holding a 1-day blood-letting activity Wednesday at the PPO headquarters here.
In cooperation with the Rizal PPO Officers Ladies Club, the blood donation activity is being held purposely to tap the spirit of volunteerism among the PPO members including civilian personnel. (Nel B. Andrade)
