Rizal, D.T.I. help small businesses
TAYTAY, RIZAL — In living up with its thrust to help the small entrepreneurs of the province in achieving success, the provincial government here and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has tied up programs to give recognition to the small and medium enterprises Sunday.
In the closing ceremony of the “Rizal Exporters and Manufacturers’ (REMAI) Fair 6: Alay sa Lalawigan” held at SM Taytay Sunday, the provincial government and the DTI awarded citations to three small and medium enterprises (SME).
The winners in the micro enterprise category which was given the SME Rising Star Award 2011 were MILGS Herbs Products of Cainta; and SME Star Elite Award 2011 to Chamende Corporation of Binangonan. (Nel B. Andrade)
Rivers cleared of illegal structures
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, (PIA) — About 160 kilometers of major river tributaries and other water-ways in Pangasinan have already been cleared of illegal fishing structures, it was bared during an assessment meeting on the river clean-up campaign on Thursday at the mezzanine hall of the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center here.
“The massive river clean-up drive is bringing back the pristine beauty and richness of our rivers for the present and future generations to enjoy,” spokesperson Avenix Arenas of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) said during the meeting.
Car gets 206 rookie cops
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — Two hundred six rookie policemen were added to the nearly 3,000-strong existing police force of the Cordillera after they formally took their oath as members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) during recent fitting ceremonies helped at the regional headquarters here.
Out of the said number of rookie policemen, 161 were males and 56 were females which were part of the quota of the region in the continuous recruitment process to beef up the anti-criminality, anti-insurgency and anti-terrorism campaign of the law enforcement agency. (Dexter A. See)
Baguio to develop idle lots
BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — The city government is now looking into its non-performing assets for eventual development. City Mayor Mauricio Domogan has specifically designated a project study team to pinpoint city- owned idle lots which could be converted into economic hubs. Domogan said “non-performing assets needs to be utilized into more productive and self-sustaining economic ventures in order to optimize its use.” Administrative Order No. 68 series of 2011 specifically designates members of the project study team to study city properties as an income-generating project.
Cavite agri production M.O.A. signed
The Cavite provincial government, the Region 4-A Department of Agriculture (DA) Field Office and Cavite Farmers Association are working together on a program that will further boost the agriculture produce and tend to the needs of farmers in the area.
Just last week, Governor Jonvic Remulla, Indang Mayor Bienvenido Dimero, and officials of the regional agricultural office and the farmers’ group have signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) which will strengthen further the agricultural program and push the projects for the farmers in the area.
