BACOLOD CITY – A stepfather admitted to the National Bureau of Investigation here that he molested his teenage stepdaughter who was found dead in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental last month.

The stepfather made the admission on Friday, August 30, after he was summoned following the recent appearance of his live-in partner, who is the victim’s mother, before the NBI.
“Ang sigurado is that itong bata was started being molested at the age of 12 and continuously, and that was being perpetrated by the stepfather,” NBI-Bacolod head Manuel Fayre Jr. said in a media interview.
(What is sure is that the victim was molested starting the age of 12 continuously and that was being perpetrated by the stepfather)
Fayre said that they will file child abuse charges against the stepfather in relation to the alleged molestation.
The stepfather told the media that he is willing to face the charges that may be filed against him. He, however, denied involvement in the death of his 15-year-old stepdaughter.
The stepfather asserted that he has nothing to do with the crime and that he responded to the summon of the NBI to testify and help them in the investigation to solve the case of his stepdaughter.
The victim was a Grade 10 student from Barangay Sum-ag here who disappeared on July 29 after she attended a half-day class. She was found lifeless two weeks later in a sugarcane field in Barangay Cubay on August 14.
Her recent autopsy result, cited by the police, indicated that she was tortured before she was killed.
The stepfather said that he has no idea who did it to his stepdaughter and he is not protecting anyone that might be involved in the incident.
He called out the perpetrator to come out and surrender to give justice to his stepdaughter.
The NBI was not convinced on the stepfather’s response to the questions being asked and believe that he is lying because of his behavior.
Fayre hopes that witnesses in the killing of the teenage student will surface to help them solve the case.
The stepfather had earlier sought refuge with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Bacolod to clear his name from allegations over the death of his stepdaughter.
He was an asset of the CIDG but they did not continue keeping him in custody to avoid implications.
The stepfather went missing when his stepdaughter was found dead and said he went to Iloilo to unwind after arguing with his live-in partner and came out for security reasons.
The La Carlota police which are leading the investigation is still exploring possibilities to identify the perpetrator.
