Porsches to roll in Clark
CLARK FREEPORT ZONE, Philippines — Clark Development Corporation (CDC) President Felipe Antonio Remollo bared that Porsche, the famous German sports car maker, will showcase various units soon at the Clark International Speedway inside the Freeport Zone.
The various models of Porsche, about 20 units that will run along the speedway, are part of promoting Clark as a sports tourism destination. Remollo said the event, sponsored by the CDC, Selrahco Management and Consultancy Corporation, Department of Tourism, Smart, ROX, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., and Pampanga’s Best, among others, will take place on July 19. BAGUIO CITY — People who remain confused on the real essence of autonomy or self-governance will now have a chance to be clarified on the numerous questions and doubts on the renewed quest for regional autonomy which is now a hot issue in the Cordillera.
The website www.cordilleravoice.com is an initiative of the Regional Development Council (RDC) in the Cordillera information and education team in order to serve as a neutral venue where people’s questions on regional autonomy can be answered. (Dexter A. See)
Mariveles storm victims get aid
MARIVELES, Bataan — Mayor Jesse Concepcion of this municipality led the distribution of relief goods to residents affected adversely by heavy southwest monsoon rains enhanced by tropical storm “Falcon” here as almost all parts of the town were submerged to as high as three to four feet deep of flood waters.
Strong rains hit this industrial town and the whole province of Bataan for almost a week, affecting severely a number of fishermen and farmers. Municipal administrator Luis Gonzales said that landslide occurred at barangay Malaya, Zigzag road, barangay Biaan and Baseco, while flash floods also submerged barangays Poblacion, Ipag, Camaya, San Isidro, Cabcaben and Balon Anito. Dentists, police partner vs crime
RODRIGUEZ, Rizal — The association of dentists in this municipality has vowed to fully cooperate and adhere to the crime prevention program of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in light of violent attacks on dentists holding clinics by serial robber-rapists.
At least 20 officers and members of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) in this town sat down with police officials here to ink a partnership in this year’s Anti-Robbery Conference. Under the partnership, dental clinics will boost security measures and dentists and their staff will undergo training for proper defensive techniques. (Nel B. Andrade)
Gov. Vi leads Arbor Day
BATANGAS CAPITOL – Batangas Governor Vilma Santos Recto led the government employees in planting seedlings during the observance of the Philippine Arbor Day at the Capitol Grounds last Friday.
The highlight of the event was the ceremonial tree planting in the capitol grounds with the National Greening Program (NGP), seeking to plant some 1.5 billion trees in a 1.5. million hectares in six years, under Executive Order No.26 of President Benigno Aquino III.
Recto tasked Provincial Administrator Victor M. Reyes to take the lead in the NGP and encouraged employees to plant a minimum of 10 seedlings per year as mandated by EO 26. (Ferdinand F. Castro)
