Nutrition program

BONTOC, Mountain Province — The Department of Health has allotted the amount of P1 million to bankroll the implementation of the maternal newborn child health nutrition (MNCHN) program in this landlocked province in order to significantly reduce problems on maternal death and malnourished children that will contribute in achieving the country’s commitment to fulfilling the United Nations (UN) Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

According to Dolores Te-elan of the Provincial Health Office here, the amount shall be used to procure drugs, medical supplies/equipment which will be distributed to the different municipalities in order to make the medical supplies available to patients, especially those coming from remote communities so that they will not succumb to untimely death simply due to inadequate supply of medicines for emergency purposes. Navy and dagupan sign agreement

DAGUPAN CITY — Recently a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) was signed between the city Mayor here and the Naval Forces Northern Luzon (NFNL), for a joint undertaking and collaboration in the promotion of ecological balance, economic development and environmental protection.

Mayor Benjamin S. Lim and Armed Forces Commodore Caesar C. Taccad, commander of the Naval Forces Northern Luzon (NFNL) realized the urgent need to coordinate and unify the efforts in the countryside through the AFP Internal Peace and Security Plan (IPSP) for people’s protection, enhancement, and economic growth. Kalinga wins 4 regional awards 

TABUK, Kalinga — Fresh from bagging the national Gawad Saka Hybrid Rice Farmer of the Year in the person of Michael Lumas-I, Kalinga’s agriculture industry is creating ripples anew as it produced four Gawad Saka awards for the province in the regional level this year. Kalinga won two awards in the individual category and two other awards under group category which is one of the interventions of the national government to help boost the country’s agriculture industry that would eventually result to food self-sufficiency in the coming years. Bamboo production 

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — The massive production of bamboo, which is perceived as one of the forest products that will help in the uphill climb to rehabilitate and manage the deteriorating watersheds, got a big boost following the allocation of P2.3-million funding with some amount already released to some local governments to enhance the bamboo production industry. Pampanga classrooms

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga — Clark Development Corporation (CDC) President Felipe Antonio B. Remollo said Sunday that the state-owned CDC and various locators and investors here are fully-supporting the bid to address the lack of classrooms in Pampanga.

In an interview, Remollo said he had recently met with Pampanga 1st District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin and Mabalacat Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales to discuss the congressman’s education program dubbed “Kabahagi Ako Adopt A School Program” launched last week at the Stotsenberg Hotel here.
