MANILA, Philippines — Global-Estate Resorts Inc. (GERI), formerly Fil-Estate Land Inc. before Andrew Tan’s Alliance Global Group Inc. acquired majority control, is allotting P20 billion for the development of two major tourism-oriented communities in Boracay and Tagaytay.

In an interview after the firm’s annual stockholders’ meeting, GERI assistant vice president Alain Sebastian said both Boracay Newcoast and Twin Lakes in Tagaytay will feature integrated, master-planned layout and world-class resort offerings and amenities.

GERI and other AGI subsidiaries plan to invest P15 billion in developing what is the single largest piece of land in Boracay (14 percent of the island) into a large-scale project called Boracay Newcoast.

For the 1,149-hectare Twin Lakes, GERI plans to invest P5 billion to turn it into a premier medical and educational tourism destination.

To address the need for first-rate accommodations on Boracay, GERI intends to build four world-class hotels with a total of 1,500 rooms at Boracay Newcoast. It has tapped three international brands plus a local brand managed by AGI, to ensure a high level of customer service.

It will also develop the Newcoast Station which will have an expansive grand plaza and entertainment center set right at the center of the project’s kilometer-long white beach. The plaza will be encircled by a luxury hotel block and a retail strip with shops, restaurants and bars.

Boracay Newcoast will also feature specialty and boutique beachfront hotels, a shophouse cluster, private villas with views of the ocean and a variety of health and wellness centers in addition to the existing golf course.

Meanwhile, the development of Twin Lakes will be accomplished in phases with the first phase located to overlook panoramic views of its very own lake as well as the Taal Lake.

It will feature a vineyard and chateau, the Twin Lakes hotel and spa, a shopping village, residential villas and condominiums, and a sports and country club.

Succeeding phases will include a golf course, a diverse set of residential communities, international hotels, plantation estate, botanical gardens, lake view manor, mountain-inspired lodging and facilities, health and wellness centers, boarding schools and retirement villages complete with modern medical amenities.
