MANILA, Philippines -- Senator  Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. has been adopted as a son of the Province of Sultan Kudarat and subsequently enthroned as Sultan in recognition of his efforts to help alleviate the plight of Muslim Filipinos.

In an enthronement and conferment ceremony conducted June 25 at the Provincial Capitol, Sen.  Revilla was installed as Sultan Aadil or Prince of Justice. His investiture coincided with the enthronement of 16 Malaysian Datus.

In his acceptance speech, the lawmaker vowed to continue to promote further the development of Mindanao.

“Rest assured, I will not disgrace this title. I will continue to fight for your rights, particularly for the rights of our Muslim brothers and sisters,” he said.

Revilla promised to push for the immediate passage of Senate Bill No. 1990, the bill that he filed that would prohibit the use of the words “Muslim” and “Islamic” in all forms of media, to refer to any person suspected or convicted of criminal acts. He pointed out that his legislative proposal would help drive the path towards a just, fair and lasting peace and development in the country.

The enthronement of the senator and the Malaysian nationals was attested by Congressman Sultan Pakung “Pax” Mangudadatu and Datu Dr. Haji Yassin Noor, Honorary Chairmain of the Royal Mindanao-Malaysia Friendship Society. Among those who witnessed the investiture were Sultan Kudarat Governor Suharto “Teng” Mangudadatu and former Tarlac Governor Margarita Cojuangco.

‘Temptation Island,’ sexy and hilarious

The remake of Joey Gosiengfiao’s “Temptation Island” has been made more exciting and sexier by its bevy of beauties in its cast – Marian Rivera, Heart Evangelista, Rufa Mae Quinto, Lovi Poe, and Solenn Heussaff. With their presence alone, this movie is indeed is a “hot” offering.

The red-carpet premiere of the movie at SM Megamall last Sunday was attended by the cast and some VIPs, among them Senators Richard Gordon and Antonio Trillanes.

Beauty and glamour blend with comedy in this film where the five stars’ characters embark on an adventure as they compete not just for the coveted title of Manila Sunshine Supermodel but also for survival in a deserted island. What follows is a series of outrageously amusing events. The movie is directed by awarded writer-director Chris Martinez.

Marian Rivera plays the call girl Cristina (originally played by Azenith Briones), while awarded actress Heart Evangelista reprises the virginal character Virginia, played in the original movie by Dina Bonnevie.

On the other hand, the role of the rich socialite Serafina, played in the original by Jennifer Cortez, has been assigned to Lovi Poe, and the role of Nympha, Serafin’s bubbly nanny, first played by Deborah Sun, is now played by bosomy Rufa Mae Quinto.

Model-turned-actress Solenn Heussaff plays Pura, a social climber originally played by Bambi Arambulo.

Playing equally significant roles in “Temptation Island” are Aljur Abrenica, as Virginia’s suitor Alfred; John Lapus as Joshua, Ricardo’s love interest; Tom Rodriguez, as the yacht waiter Umbero and Mikael Daez as Joshua’s boyfriend and photographer Ricardo. Dennis Trillo guests in the movie.

We were impressed by the performance of the cast, most especially the leading ladies who all delivered A-1 acting. Beautiful, sexy and talented, each proved they were perfect for the roles assigned them. Each of them shone in their respective scenes.

We congratulate writer Chris Martinez for the crisp, intelligently incisive dialogues.
