Drying pavement to corn farmers
TABUK CITY, Kalinga, Philippines — Corn farmers in a remote community here are lucky to have been chosen recipients of two post harvest facilities from the Episcopal Church to complement government efforts to improve the lives of farmers and that the same is in consonance with the Aquino administration’s concept of private public partnership to help improve the living condition of the people in the countryside.
Around 24 farmers producing corn in Daram, Cudal are beneficiaries of the Community-Based Development Program (CBDP) of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern Luzon (EDNL) with the ongoing construction of a warehouse and multi-purpose drying pavement which is integral equipment in helping boost their production of agricultural crops. AFAB, DOLE hold labor forum
MARIVELES, Bataan — The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB), in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) recently held a forum on labor relations for the locators of the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB).
“We encourage our foreign employers to have a good working relationship with their workers here at the FAB. Barriers such as language, values and culture interfere with the channels of understanding so foreign managers need to be aware of the Filipino culture and harness it for effective management,” said AFAB Chairman and Administrator Deogracias GP. America in 3D in Baguio
BAGUIO CITY — Amidst the unfavorable weather condition in the country’s undisputed Summer Capital, thousands of people from the different parts of Northern Luzon flocked to the city to join United States embassy officials and employees in America in 3D which will run for three days starting Friday at the SM City Baguio here.
US Ambassador to the Philippines Harry K. Thomas, Jr. and Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan were delighted to witness the huge crowd that flocked to the biggest mall in the city to enjoy the initial wave of act fun-filled activities lined up by the US embassy for the public. (Dexter A. See)
Aid to flood affected villages
CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga — At least six flood-stricken barangays in Minalin, Pampanga have received relief goods from Clark Development Corporation recently as part of the state-owned firm’s corporate social responsibility to areas badly affected by heavy downpour during the height of typhoon ‘Falcon.’
The distribution of the relief goods was administered by the CDC’s Community Extension Services Office (CDC-CESO) and several volunteers from different CDC departments, associations, and the utilities. (Franco G. Regala)
Breastfeeding drive
RIZAL PROVINCE — The provincial government here is spearheading a province-wide massive information campaign to promote the many benefits of breastfeeding for infants in line with the nation’s observance of the 37th Nutrition Month this July.
It was learned from the office of Governor Casimiro “Jun” Ynares, III, that the provincial government’s nutrition action officers are continuously giving lectures on breastfeeding for pregnant women and lactating mothers as part of the many nutrition-related programs lined-up this month.
