MANILA, Philippines -- It’s a TV reality show but it’s not any other reality show. We are referring to “I Dare You,” ABS-CBN’s first realiserye set to start airing tomorrow, July 11, with Jericho Rosales, Iya Villania and Melai Cantiveros as hosts.

“I Dare You” is a joint project between the Kapamilya Network’s News and Current Affairs Division and the TV Entertainment Group.

Echo said of the show: “This is original, not a franchise. This is a show that will test the resilience and determination of Kapamilya stars who will be tapped to carry out a series of challenges in order to win a reward for ordinary Filipinos worthy of the title ‘Bidang Kapamilya.’”

“Bidang Kapamilya” refers to everyday Pinoys – the laborers, farmers, market vendors, teachers, garbage and junk collectors, senior citizens, disabled persons, stuntmen and other workers who bravely face life’s everyday challenges and whose heart-tugging stories will be told along the way. The Celebity Kapamilya Challengers will be there to help them fulfill their challenges and win prizes for them.

On her part, Iya said: “Malalaki at nakakatakot ang mga challenges dahil talaga namang nakakatakot kung minsan ang mga hamon sa buhay, pero hindi ito inuurungan.’’

Viewers will also learn from the experiences of the “Bidang Kapamilya” and the celebrities.

Melai said, “May puso ang programang ito. Ang hosting namin dito, full of heart and purpose. But I am the wacky, less serious host.”

The first episode of “I Dare You” will have Gab Valenciano and Alessandra de Rossi joining Echo in his return to his roots in Marikina, where he carried loads and sold fish in a wet market. While viewers will get to see Gab and Alessandra without make-up and assistants, they will also learn about Echo’s rags-to-riches story as told and demonstrated by the multi-awarded actor himself.

Among those who’ll be featured in succeeding episodes of “I Dare You” is Kim Chiu. Even some of the popular anchors of the network’s News and Current Affairs Division will also appear in the show.

PolyEast releases Joong’s ‘Break Down’

PolyEast Records announced the release of Kim Hyun Joong’s (of SS501) mini album. One of Asia’s most popular pop stars today, Joong’s album is entitled “Break Down,” which he recorded right after his concert tour of the US and South Korea. Aside from the Philippines, the album was also released in South Korea, Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

Together with the Japanese group V6, and Kat-Tun’s producer Steven lee, Joong involved himself in the making of the mini-album in his effort to project more of himself as a solo artist. “Break Down” features six songs with one instrumental version of the title track, featuring Double K, and with Ken Lewis as producer.

Other songs in the CD are “Please,” “Intro (Let Me Go),” “Kiss Kiss,” another pop-dance song but accompanied with an acoustic guitar, and “Yes I Will.”

Joong is the leader of SS501. He has won awards and gained popularity with his role as “Ji Hoo” in the 2009 hit drama series “Boys Over Flowers” which was shown on ABS-CBN. He is now known as “Baek Seung Jo/Gelo” in the hit drama series “Playful Kiss,” now aired on GMA 7.
