Samsung expands its Galaxy of wearables with the nifty Ring

The Galaxy Ring has long been teased and expected. Finally it is here. 

At $399 USD, the Galaxy Ring caters to those who prioritize health monitoring, particularly sleep. It offers in-depth sleep tracking by monitoring movement, sleep latency, heart rate, and respiration. After all, getting a good night's sleep is crucial for overall health. 

The Galaxy Ring currently allows limited control over Galaxy devices, like stopping an alarm with a gesture. This is a stepping stone for future functionalities. Imagine a world where Ring interactions become more sophisticated, allowing actions like exchanging contact information with a simple handshake or a fist bump. 

It should be noted that the Ring device isn't new at all. A couple of years back, one of the most talked-about devices is the Oura Ring, which is yes, a health monitoring device and shares many features as with the Galaxy Ring, including menstrual, sleep, respiratory, blood oxygen, and stress. Also, Samsung's sends alerts for high or low heart rates. Oura Ring requires a subscription though. The latest Oura Ring 3 can be used without a subscription, but functionalities are limited. Samsung's Galaxy Ring is open and has no intention in tying the knot with a subscription model.
