Ex-envoy victimized
MANILA, Philippines — Even the basement parking of a church in Pasay City is not safe from thieves anymore as unidentified suspects smashed the car windows of two vehicles belonging to a former ambassador and a Philippine Navy lieutenant on Sunday night.
According to the police, former ambassador Milo Gusi, wife Dr. Evelyn Gusi, and their two children were about to go home at 6:45 p.m., after hearing mass at St. Therese Church, Newport City, Pasay City, when the wife discovered that the right rear glass window of their Mitsubishi Montero (PJI-648) was broken.
Upon checking the vehicle, she discovered that her handbag containing cash amounting to P35,000, several bank cards, identification cards, accessories, daughter's passport, and other important receipts and documents were missing.
Meanwhile, it was discovered that another vehicle which was also parked at the church's basement was forcibly opened by the same suspects. The vehicle was a Nissan Sentra (WGX-464) and owned by Allan Guda, a Philippine Navy lieutenant. The car was smashed in a similar manner as the owner discovered that the right rear passenger window was also damaged.
The suspects were able to cart away Guda's cell phone valued at P10,000, laptop priced at P40,000, and other personal belongings including his Philippine Navy uniform.
