A Cessna plane with two pilots on board overshot the runway of the Plaridel Airport in Bulacan on Saturday afternoon, July 13, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said.
A report reaching the CAAP said that the Cessna 152, with registration RP-C 5656, executed a bumpy landing on runway 17 and continued without decelerating until it reached runway 35.
“The aircraft attempted to initiate a missed approach but was unable to do so due to insufficient airspeed. Eventually, it surpassed the end of runway 35 and subsequently collided with both the perimeter fence and a nearby residential property,” the CAAP said.
As a result, one of the pilots suffered minor injuries while the other one was unharmed. There were also no occupants in the house affected during the incident.
They were rescued by personnel sent by local airport authorities.
CAAP's Licensing and Certification Department (LCD) and Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board (AAIIB) will conduct separate investigations of the incident.
