Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan announced the forthcoming changes in the system of tax collection to support and improve the capital city's programs.

Compared to the previous year, Lacuna-Pangan said the tax collection has better system this year.

"Sa mga pagbabagong inyong mararanasan sa mga susunod na linggo at buwan, makatitiyak kayo na ang mga ito ay malaking tulong para sa ating lungsod (With the changes you will experience in the coming weeks and months, you can be sure that they will be of great help to our city)," she said.

The mayor cited the newly established system for data collection that will be available soon.

She noted that all vital information of the taxpayers will be helpful to the city's fiscal standing and pinpoint areas of primary concern.

She also expressed support to the efforts of digitizing all departments, offices and bureaus. She lauded the efforts of the city's revenue-generating departments, bureaus and offices, whose operations were digitized to ensure that all funds indeed go to the city's programs.

"Lahat ay gusto nang ma-digitize to ensure na papasok talaga ang lahat nang dapat para sa lungsod. Patunay nito ang mas mataas na koleksyon ngayon kung ikukumpara sa mga nakaraang taon (Everyone wants the system to be digitized to ensure that everything is really deposited to the city. This proves the higher collection today compared to previous years)," she also said.

The local chief executive also expressed gratitude to City Treasurer Jasmin Talegon and the 300 employees with her for the development of an efficient system of tax collection.

Talegon had reported that online mode of payment for tax collection has helped in meeting the target collection.

"Napakaraming obligasyon ng ating pamahalaan, kaya tama ang sinabi ni Mam Jaz na bawat isang piso o  limang piso ay napakahalaga na pumasok nang tama sa ating lungsod (Our government has many obligations. Mam Jaz rightly said that even peso or five pesos must be deposited properly to our city)," the mayor said.

"Sa ilalim ng aking pamamahala, lahat ng inyong makikitang pagbabago,  tiyak na  para sa ikabubuti ng lungsod (Under my management, all the changes you will see will definitely be for the betterment of the city)," she stressed.
