Accurate info asked for FHS
ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Philippines (PIA) — The National Statistics Office (NSO) is appealing to Capiceños who are respondents in a family health survey to provide accurate information.
The NSO is preparing for the one-month family health survey (FHS) in August which will cover 26 barangays in this city as sample population for the survey.
Said survey, which focuses on health, children’s immunization, family planning, maternal and child mortality and other health and family-related issues, is part of the National Demographic and Health Survey which is undertaken every five years.
20 schools named GPAK awardees
DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) — Some 20 Negros Oriental schools awarded for successfully implementing the “Gulayan at Palaisdaan Alay sa Kabataan” agricultural program (GPAK) received cash prizes and certificates of recognition during the 9th GPAK awards ceremony last July 19 here.
GPAK was conceived in 2002 by then Governor, now Rep. George Arnaiz, involving schools in food production by using unused lots in schools for vegetable production and tilapia ponds. GPAK was given national recognition when it became a Galing Pook awardee for its impact on the nutritional status of school children.
NDPR week shows PWD talents
MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte (PIA) — In line with the Regional Committee on Disability Affairs (RCDA) Regional Office 8 is now holding the “Pinoy Got Talent” search at Robinsons Place in Tacloban City as part of its celebration of the 33rd National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week (NDPR) from July 17-23.
The July 21 activity will showcase talents of persons with disabilities throughout Eastern Visayas region. The city government’s Social Welfare and Development Office will send contestant Bonnie Fernandez who will showcase his singing talent.
41 couples learn family planning
BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occ. (PIA) — The Bacolod City Population Office, along with the Bacolod City Police Office and Police Station 5, conducted a responsible parenting class with 41 couples attending in Hda. Rosario Norte, Granada, Bacolod City.
They taught married couples Responsible Parenting, Family Relationships, Home Management, Fertility Awareness, and Family Planning Method.
Nutrition month marked in Antique
SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) — Antique province is observing Nutrition Month, themed “Isulong ang Breastfeeding, Tama, Sapat at Eksklusibo” with a series of activities.
The Provincial Health Office said the theme does not only encourage mothers to exclusively breastfeed their babies but also solicit family and community support for breastfeeding mothers.
First time pregnant mothers are encouraged to go to health centers for proper pre-natal check up and orientation on the tips on proper breastfeeding.
