High Speed Hitters vent ire on Foxies

Reeling from a five-set defeat to the Chery Tiggo Crossovers four days ago, the High Speed Hitters vented their ire and halted the Foxies’ streak to regain their morale before they enter the crossover round where they will face the bottom three of Pool B.

Elena Samoilenko led the attack with 22 points as PLDT captured its fourth win in five games.

Veteran Mika Reyes and Erika Santos added eight and seven markers, respectively. Kim Fajardo also impressed with 12 excellent sets.

PLDT mentor Rald Ricafort said the victory serves as an important morale booster as they head to the next round.

“Happy na naraos ‘yong bracket, sana makatulong ‘yong momentum going to the crossover [round]. Kasi ‘yong mga makakalaban namin parang di naman sila bottom three kung iisipin so malalakas paring ‘yong Petro Gazz, Choco Mucho,” said Ricafort.

“So kailangan pa rin naming paghandaan [at] buti nalang nakakuha kami ng momentum kahit papaano,” he added.

PLDT was all over the floor as it unleashed a 9-2 blitz to earn a 19-11 advantage in the opening set.

Trisha Tubu made things interesting for Farm Fresh but her efforts were not enough to rescue the Foxies who fell to a 2-3 card for fourth spot.

Tubu topscored with 17 while Yen Murillo unloaded 11 in the losing cause.
