July 28, 2011: Latest PAGASA Weather Update Philippines

MANILA, Philippines –  Final Update:  As of the latest PAGASA  weather bulletin issued at 11:00 a.m. , July 28,2011, Tropical Storm “JUANING" has maintained its strength as it moved out from the Philippine Area of Responsibility this morning.

At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm “JUANING” was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 370 km

West Northwest of Laoag City (18.6°N, 116.6°E) with maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 120 kph.  TS Juaning is expected to move West Northwest at 24 kph and will be at 560 km West Northwest of Laoag City or 310 km South Southeast of Hongkong this evening. By tomorrow morning, it will be at 270 km Southwest of Hongkong.

All Public Storm Warning Signals are now lowered. PAGASA says, this is the final bulletin on this weather disturbance.

However, this disturbance will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon and bring rains over thewestern sections of Luzon and Visayas.

Update 1

As per latest  weather bulletin by PAGASA issued at 5:00 a.m. July 28,2011, Tropical Storm "JUANING" was estimated at 4:00 a.m. today based on radar, satellite and surface data at 240 km West Southwest of Laoag City (17.8°N 118.1°E) with maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 120 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 22 kph.

The western section of Northern Luzon and Zambales will experience rains with gusty winds and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough.  The rest of Luzon an of Visayas will have moonsooon rains while Mindanao will be mostly cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorm.

As per latest weather bulletin by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released at 11:00 p.m. , July 27,2011, Tropical Storm "JUANING" (NOCK-TEN)  is now  over  the  West  Philippine  Sea  heading  towards Southern China. Storm Juaning‘s center is located at 110km Southwest of Laoag City and moving West Northwest at 19 kph having a strength of 85kph to 100 kph.

PAGASA forecasts that Typhoon Juaning will be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this morning.

As of this writing , PAGASA  bulletin  says  the following  areas are under Public Storm Signal No. 2 (60-100 kph winds) :  Ilocos Norte, Abra, Kalinga, Ilocos Sur, Mt. Province, Ifugao, La Union, Benguet and Nueva Viscaya.

Meanwhile, Apayao, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga and Bataan  remain under Public Storm Signal No. 1 (45-60 kph winds).

Public Storm Warning Signals elsewhere are now lowered. For Metro Manila, there is no storm warning at the moment. Some places such as Rosario ,Cavite , however, are still affected by floods brought about by Bagyong Juaning  hence the Mayor declares that classes are still suspended today, Thursday, July 28, 2011.

PAGASA will release another weather bulletin at  5:00 am today and possible NCR class suspensions will be announced after the release .

As  per  Deped rule , class suspensions are made   in  agreement  with  chief  executives  of  local government units. Public Storm Signal No. 1 denotes an automatic no classes for pre-school , while Public Storm Signal No. 2 indicates suspension of  classes  for  pre-school, elementary and high school.”

Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signals #2 & # 1 are being alerted by PAGASA against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone.

Tropical Storm "JUANING"  will  continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon and  will  bring widespread rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides over the Rest of Luzon and Western Visayas.

The public and disaster coordinating councils concerned are also being advised to take appropriate actions and monitor the next PAGASA bulletin to be issued at 5:00 a.m. today. Hourly updates will be issued by the weather bureau afterwards.
