Broadway-style festival in Subic
SUBIC BAY FREEPORT, Philippines — The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) is set to spice up this year’s Feast of San Roque by putting on a broadway show on August 16 with the theme, “Viva! San Roque a la Broadway!” Organizers said the festivities will start with a Holy Mass at the San Roque Chapel here, followed by a foot parade from Boardwalk Park to Subic Gym.
This year, a major event in the program will be the street dance competition, wherein participating groups consisting of 15-25 members will present performances inspired by some Broadway musicals. This will be open to different SBMA departments and schools from the neighboring communities of Olongapo City; Subic, Castillejos, and San Marcelino in Zambales; and Morong and Hermosa in Bataan. Baguio squatters to be demolished
BAGUIO CITY — The city government and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) vowed to work together to rid road right-of-way areas, national roads and sidewalks in the city of thousands of informal settlers.
Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan and DPWS District Engineer Ireneo S. Gallato agreed to set up stringent rules in the issuance of demolition orders in order to immediately remove illegal structures built on national roads in order to ease worsening traffic congestions due to the constrictions caused by the encroachments made on national and city roads. DTI gives out 847 computers
ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced Thursday the distribution of a total 847 computers with complete package to public secondary schools beneficiaries in Central Luzon.
At least 77 public schools in the region received 11 computers each from the government’s Personal Computers for Public Schools (PCPS) Project-Phase 4, DTI Assistant Regional Director Judith Angeles said.
The PCPS project is in line with President Aquino’s program to elevate education and promote new computer technology as well. (Franco G. Regala)
43 cops finish probe training
CAMP GEN. FLORENDO, La Union — A total of 43 uniformed personnel of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) successfully completed recently the Criminal Investigation Course and received their graduation certificates in a simple ceremony held at the Concord Building here.
Chief Superintendent Franklin J.B. Bucayu, PRO1 director, said the program which seeks to upgrade the investigative knowledge and skills of the uniformed personnel is part of the transformation program of the Philippine National Police (PNP). (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
Rider, motorbike and cloned plate
CAMP GEN. SANTOS, Bulacan — A “no helmet, no ride” violation led to the discovery of the alleged cloning of a motorcycle by a suspected member of a carnapping gang recently arrested in Sta Maria town this province.
Senior Supt. Fernando H. Mendez Jr., acting Bulacan police director, said in a press conference on Wednesday said that investigators of the Sta. Maria police station has filed anti-carnapping charges against Godofredo Cruz del Rosario Jr., after finding that the motorcycle he was driving was a stolen motorcycle with a “cloned” plate number.
