Date reveal: What to expect in the 73rd Miss Universe Competition

The most beautiful day in the universe is just around the corner.

The Miss Universe Organization announced today, Aug. 23, that the 73rd Miss Universe Competition will be held in Mexico on Nov. 16 (Nov. 17 Manila time).

In a video announcement, the MUO announced that 130 countries will participate in this year's competition.

Organizers described the coming pageant as the biggest event in the history of Miss Universe pageant.

The MUO also hinted at the show's new format.

The pageant's preliminary competition and national costume show will be held on Nov. 14.

Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua is the reigning Miss Universe.
