More job fairs in Cavite

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite, Philippines – Believing that job fairs helped Cavite retain a high employment rate, the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) has scheduled another job fair on August 8 and 9, at the Old Imus Municipal Building. The fair is open to high school and college graduates, aged between 18 and 25.

Imus PESO Manager Bengie E. del Rosario and staff member Michael Olaes, also said Shoemart (SM) Hypermarket, which will open soon in Imus in September or October, is in need of office and customer assistants, cashiers, sales clerks, bag counter personnel and a nurse. Job opportunities are offered in Cavite’s four cities and 19 towns at least every quarter to improve further the province’s employment rate, said Dr. Eva Defiesta, Provincial PESO manager. Feeds shipment stolen in Quezon

TIAONG, Quezon- A group of eight armed men hijacked a truck loaded with 750 sacks of feeds while it was parked at the shoulder of the diversion road of Barangay Lumingon in this town last Wednesday, police reported Friday.
The truck driver, Antonieto Gomez of Dansan Danao City and his helper Jenson Gomez were sleeping inside the truck when they were roused by two of the suspects. They were ordered to step out of the truck and ride in the group’s van. The two said they were brought to the group’s hideout. After almost 24 hours the group dropped the two off in Barangay Masin in Candelaria town. (Danny Estacio)

Cops hunt tricycle drivers' killers

BANGUED, Abra – Police are still trying to determine the identity of the gunmen who opened fire at a group of tricycle drivers playing with cards along Torrijos Street Corner Paz Street in Zone 5, this town, last Tuesday.

Police said two of the drivers, Bernard Bermudez y Buenafe, 30; and Nelson Ducayan Y Berona, 50; both residents of Barangay Calaba Bangued, Abra, were killed in the shooting and two others, Jaylord Clarence Quinto, 20; and Felipe Castaneda Bermudez, 22; were wounded.

The drivers were playing with cards while waiting passengers when the gunmen arrived and fired at them several times.(Freddie G.Lazaro)

Groundbreaking

TAAL, Batangas – Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Raul Bacalzo on Thursday led the groundbreaking ceremony for Taal’s new two-storey municipal police station. Bacalzo said the PNP allotted P2.5 million and the local government headed by Mayor Michael Montenegro added P1.44 million to build the new station, which is located near the town hall.

The new station was made possible through the donation of a 286-square-meter lot and with the municipality of Taal shouldering a third of the cost of construction. (Ferdinand Castro)

Cavite shootout

Two of three holdup men who robbed an internet shop in Green Breeze Subdivision, Barangay Langkaan I, Dasmariñas, Cavite, were killed Thursday night in a shootout with policemen.

Senior Superintendent John C. Bulalacao, Cavite Police Provincial Office (CPPO) director, said the three suspects, who were riding a motorcycle, traded shots with CPPO intelligence operatives led by Chief Inspector Gil Torralba and Dasmariñas policemen who chanced on them. (Anthony Giron)
