Remulla acquires land for investors

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite, Philippines — The Capitol has acquired vast land in the province’s 1st district where foreign investors can operate industrial factories, Governor Jonvic Remulla revealed Tuesday.

Officials said there has been no opposition from concerned sectors on the move of the administration, considering the investment income for the province and job opportunities for the needy.

This developed as Senior Superintendent John C. Bulalacao, Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) director, assured peace and order to ensure investors’ confidence in the area. (Anthony Giron)

Church to be declared NCT

MINALIN, Pampanga — The almost 400-year-old Sta. Monica Church here, built during the Spanish era and one of the oldest Catholic churches in Luzon, is set to be declared as a National Cultural Treasure (NCT) by the National Museum.

Mayor Arturo Naguit is now busy preparing for the historic event. “The National Museum deemed the Sta. Monica Parish as an NCT for three reasons. Firstly, its façade features a unique giant retablo influenced by Christian, Buddhist, Hinduist and animistic cultures.

Secondly, it is the only Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines having four capilla posas that remain intact to these days,” Naguit said. (Mark Anthony N. Manuel)

Free cataract surgery in Rizal

ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal — The city government here is holding another round of free cataract operation for the city’s indigent residents on Saturday in line with the local government’s activity for Sight Saving Month this August.

City Health Office (CHO) chief, Dr. Antonio Reillo, Jr. revealed that the latest free eye operation organized by the city government and will be held on August 13, is also being supported by the Resources For The Blind Incorporated.

Justice on wheels reaches Pampanga

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — The Supreme Court (SC) has formally launched its Enhanced Justice on Wheels (EJOW) project in this city to resolve pending cases of inmates at the Angeles City Regional Trial Court compound in Barangay Pulung Maragul.

The EJOW program is part of the Department of Justice’s (DoJ) effort to render a speedy and swift justice to all, especially to the members of the marginalized sector. New classrooms opened in Quezon

LUCENA CITY, Quezon — The private and public sectors have joined efforts to provide new additional classrooms in public schools in various towns in Quezon, over the weekend.

Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc.'s (FFCCCII's) Dr. Roberto Licup Sr. said that eight classroom buildings have already been inaugurated in Sisi Elementary Schools in Guinyangan; Punta Elementary School in Unisan; and Dr. Panfilo Castro National High School in Candelaria.
