Party-list solon running for congressman in Capiz

ILOILO CITY – Rep. Howard Guintu of Pinuno party-list is running for congressman in the first district of Capiz.

Guintu filed his Certificate of Candidacy on Thursday in the provincial capital Roxas City.

This is Guintu’s first foray into local politics.

Guintu is fairly new in the political arena. He only became congressman in 2022 as the first nominee of Pinuno party-list.

He is set to run against Paolo Roxas, the son of former Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and grandson of former President Manuel Roxas.

If he wins, Guintu said he will bring more legislative measures that will benefit the people of the first district of Capiz.

He backed the creation of an office of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Maayon town, which is awaiting approval in the Senate.

Guintu said that he will push for allocation to improve the province’s aquaculture industry as Capiz is known as the country’s seafood capital.

He is also seeking the redevelopment of the airport and seaport in the province.
