Zoe Saldana as Cataleya in ‘Colombiana’

MANILA, Philippines -- Though full of action with fast-paced martial arts sequences, nothing is so gory or bloody in the movie “Colombiana.” It’s so entertaining that Filipino moviegoers will definitely love to see it!

Action star Zoe Saldana (“Avatar”) plays Cataleya, who, while still a young girl, witnessed the murder of her parents. She grows up with a deep desire to avenge the death of her parents, and she even goes to jail so that she can be near the first man in her list to kill.

A young Colombian woman, Cataleya goes to the US where her gangster uncles raise her. She subsequently becomes his hit woman – but with the end in view of finally killing the murderers of her parents.

Cataleya is however also hungry for love, and when she meets the man she loves, her passion for him is as intense as her passion to kill an enemy.

“Colombiana” is a Viva International Pictures’ release set to open Friday in local theaters. Directed by Olivier Megaton (“Transporter 3,” “Red Siren” and “Exit”), it also features in the cast Cliff Curtis as Cataleya’s uncle Emilio, Beto Benitez (as Don Luis), Jordi Molla (as Marco, the evil henchman of a drug lord), Lennie James (“The Next Three Days,” “Mob Rules”), and Michael Vartan (“Rogue,” “Monster-in-Law”) as Cataleya’s boyfriend.

‘H.I.V.’ premiere  Friday night for Rudy

The indie movie “H.I.V. (Si Heidi, si Ivy, si Vi)” holds premiere showing Friday night at the Cinema 10 of SM Megamall. Proceeds from the event will be used for the medical needs of ailing fashion designer Rudy Fuentes who is currently confined at the Rizal Medical Center along Shaw Blvd.

Produced by Exogain Productions and directed by Neal Tan from a script written by Wanggo Gallaga, “H.I.V.” stars Jake Cuenca, Iza Calzado, Precious Lara Quigaman, Will Devaughn, IC Mendoza, and Ms. Maribel Lopez, one of the beauties discovered by Rudy Fuentes.

Maribel, along with Azenith Briones, Melanie Marquez, Jean Saburit and Vangie Pascual visited Rudy in Binangonan where he was staying with relatives and brought him first to Philippine Heart Center for intensive medical checkup.

Last Wednesday, Vicky Morales’ “Wish Ko Lang” show on GMA-7, visited Rudy at the Rizal Medical Center and gifted him with P100,000 medical assistance, a wheelchair, a lifetime supply of pampers and other products.
